About the Author

Henry Valentine Miller was born in New York City in 1891 and raised in Brooklyn. He lived in Europe, particularly Paris, Berlin, the south of France, and Greece; in New York; and in Beverly Glen, Big Sur, and Pacific Palisades, California where he died in 1980. He is also the author, among many other works, of Tropic of Capricorn, the Rosy Crucifixion trilogy (Sexus, Plexus, Nexus), and The Air-Conditioned Nightmare.

An extraordinary book without time

Excuse me for my bad English: I'm Italian and I don't speak English. I have found Black Spring completely different from Tropics of Cancer: this is blood, sex and hunger, without thinking (so appear, naturally), that is remember and philosophy, a wondereful mix. Miller is a hard man, and like all the hard men, he is also an hopeless romantic.

A fascinating collection by a great American author.

One of Miller's earliest books,and considered to be the
second in the Tropics trilogy, this is a collection of
short sketches (for lack of a better term) by a young Henry
Miller using the mature writer's voice that makes him such
a powerful speaker. With pieces like "The Angel is My
Watermark", a hilarious self-portrait of Miller in Paris
suffering an excess of artistic inspiration, to a tender
reminiscence of his father's New York tailor shop, this
book contains a side to Henry Miller rarely seen through
the publicity but known to his careful readers; a side
that is philosophical, spiritual, and funny. It remains
one of Miller's best and most enduring books.

Black Spring -- my first Henry Miller novel

I just finished reading BLACK SPRING. It blew me away. Henry Miller's storytelling style is so personal, it's kind of like taking an unexpected medium punch in the gut. The geography becomes local, the imagery is rough, obscene and poetic, and goes on for pages at a time. Miller becomes larger than life, powerful through his honesty and vulnerability. I am amazed with his unique ability to effortlessly paint such vivid pictures, wander aimlessly through haunting nightmares, and relive pleasure and passion. From sitting around in the Parisian home of friend Jabberewohl Crondstadt celebrating each other's conquests and madness, to wandering the dark bum-piss hooker-lined streets of forbidden America, I found myself constantly stopping, re-reading and wondering how he took me there. Eventually I stopped raising my hand to ask questions, and just sat back and listened.

A must read book for every HSP.

I first heard about the term HSP a few years back. (It was a term coined by Dr. Elaine Aron.) As soon as I read many of the symptoms I thought... “this definitely describes me.”

Here are a few indicators that I have seen in myself (and other HSPs):

**Highly bothered by sound, noise, chaos. (Overstimulated)
**Likes quiet
**Decides slowly
**Prone to anxiety
**Get upset if a “wrong: decision is made”
**Worries about others reactions
**Detail oriented
**Hypersentitive

An HSP is sort of like a supercharged introvert. (Although not all HSP are introverts)

Barrie has done a wonderful job explaining what it is to be an HSP. Why this can make someone special. How to find out if you are an HSP. How to deal with an HSP child. How to avoid depression and anxiety as an HSP. The differences between HSP’s and Empaths. How to make the most of being an HSP and a whole lot more.

I highly recommend this book for any HSP or anyone who has a close family member who is an HSP.

Disappointed

Perhaps this book serves well for those requiring affirmations; ostensibly this is its greatest contribution. It predominately relies on the commentary of HSP's referencing their various tribulations, (the same type of commentary left on numerous blog sites). Its intent seems to be to re-frame the negative implications that may come along with HSP's tendencies.

For someone not seeking affirmation of themselves through a sense of community, I doubt there would be any relevant benefit that would go beyond what is readily available to everyone on the internet.The book assumes that shame is an automatic response to increased sensitivity and projects that strong emotions equate to emotional outbursts. As a highly sensitive person, I found it troublesomely ironic that the author would choose to employ the emotionally draining experiences of others as a way to convey the challenges HSP's face. Hoping for some compensatory insight I pushed forward, eventually only scanning a few words of each commentor, but never found a revelation that could justify its cost to me. I hoped to find redemption in the final chapter, Managing Daily Life. There were some practical considerations that might have otherwise been overlooked by readers, but in most other areas I found a dismissal of the HSP's innate tendencies. As a general rule, HSP's do not like routines;14 are suggested. As noted in authoritative publications, HSP's naturally arrange their environments to accommodate their sensitivities, rendering most of the recommendations pointless.

I do not at all relish in making critical remarks, but at the same time I carry of sense of obligation to others like myself who are looking for depth and accountability. They will find much more already existing in themselves than they will find in these pages.

What a Difference This Book Made in My Life

Oh, how I wish I had known this information years ago when I was starting out in life! What a difference it could have made in the way I saw myself and interacted with others in personal relationships and also at work with coworkers and supervisors!

But it’s not too late to learn, and I was personally reassured and uplifted by what this book explained to me. The author has shared in a friendly, readable way the background of HSP, the tools to use to better cope with life, current information to review, and detailed exercises to give me a whole new outlook!

Thank you, Barrie Davenport, for sharing what you’ve learned and making it available to people in an understandable, non-scientific manner. You’ve made a difference in my life!

Well chosen title.

I like the book very much because it is filled with many line-drawings indicating different aspects of domestic architecture in the region. However the title is well chosen, the book has a broader significance because of the wide spectrum of subjects involved. After a short introduction dealing with some general terms the book continues with a chapter about The Arab Region. Here it describes shortly geography, climate and used building materials but also cultural determinants of the region like history and tradition, socio-economics, the nomadic input, values, ideology and the role of Islam. The Origins of Architecture delves into human needs and comfort conditions and describes climate and microclimates. Traditional Materials treats organic and inorganic materials and binding agents. Traditional Structures mainly is about covering structures, floor slabs, post and beams, corbelling, arches and vaulting in it's many varieties. Types of settlements and towns is the subject of Shelter. The Planning Elements treats the cell, transverse space, colonnade and arcade, the porch, veranda and loggia, gallery, peristyle, Iwan, courtyards and so on. A special chapter is Water and Waste Management which goes beyond the narrow definition of domestic architecture. Privacy is examined in Traditional Design Strategies together with designing for variable space needs, expansion and severe climate. There is also a chapter about Exceptions to the Rule, the special types of housing in the area. A large part of the book is then devoted to Case Studies classified according to country. Some very varied topics are dicussed in Western vs Eastern Ways. Then at the end of the book the Appendix is filled with a colourful collection of material documenting contemporary efforts for a synthesis of modern living requirements with environmental and traditional factors of the Arab Region. The last part can be read as general recommendations for the planning of housing in a arid region.
In short the book does justice to the title and leaves, though in black and white, a colourful impression of domestic architecture in the region.

Wow. I am so glad that's over.

Okay. So:

Red Queen was good ! I really liked the whole idea of the divide between silver and red bloods and finished the book rather quickly, to be brief.

Now, I was so excited for Glass Sword. Like, I got it the day it was released. So I really gave it a chance, I did. But boy, by page 40, I could not stand this book. Not just the book, but MARE.

Let me break this down into what made this book a disappointing disaster for me.

1) MARE

I'm going to call her nightMare because that's exactly what she was throughout the entire book. What on Earth! I've never disliked a main character so much.

It started out by her calling herself the 'lighting girl' literally 20 times within the first two chapters. Yes, okay, we get it. You're the Lightning girl, woopdy doo. Not only was that incredibly annoying, but her ENTIRE inner dialogue was a pity party that NO ONE wanted to be invited to. On every single page she had to remind everyone of how "broken" and "alone" she was and boo hoo. 'Oh look at me I'm the Lightning girl and my heart is ice and my soul is black and I'm so alone I can't smile or laugh because that girl is dead and I must become this and that and I must harden my already hard heart and push people away and I can't trust anyone because ANYONE CAN BETRAY ANYONE' (yes, we KNOW) and blah blah blah BLAH.
Literally all she did was whine!! I'm going to add some direct quotes from the book at the end but I'm just paraphrasing what her inner thoughts were like. We had to be told what nightMare was feeling after every single little thing instead of being SHOWN. Show, not tell. Hello?? NightMare was also incredibly disrespectful, heartless, and distant.
She didn't give two craps about her family and belittled Kilorn FOR NO REASON. Okay, so with her family, she left them at that camp place. The Tuck? I don't even remember and I literally just finished the book an hour ago. Anyways, then she gives NO THOUGHT to them AT ALL after that. In Red Queen she visibly cared about them! Even sneaking off with Cal to get to see them and now it's like she did a 180 360 2 million turn around and couldn't care less. ??!!!

I cannot understand her reasoning for using Kilorn as a punching bag and literally treating him like dirt. No, garbage. She called him useless to his face and belittled him constantly. When Kiliorn told her how he felt about her romantically (that scene kind of came out of nowhere and was messy in general btw) she didn't care at all! Instead of being KIND to him about it, she was basically like, "Oh no, never wanted this to happen. Too bad for you Kilorn. I'm going to draw on my inner Mareena now because I don't know how to deal with this on my own." Ugh. NightMare did not deserve a friend like Kilorn who constantly forgave her for her disgusting attitude towards him. She honestly treated him so badly it was horrid to read. If that's how she treats her friends, it's no wonder that she has none.

Another thing: nightMare acted as if she were the center of the world/universe/Galaxy. News flash: YOU ARE NOT. In addition to calling herself the lighting girl (UGH) every 2 sentences, she also reminds the readers that she's the most important, her ability the best and deadliest. Which, by the way, was not true. She was no better than Cal's Fire or any of the other newbloods. In any way, shape, or form. NightMare needed to humble herself and sit down. She acted as if everyone else paled in comparison to her. And since Victoria Aveyard didn't bother to give any of the other characters the time of day (getting to that soon), they really did pale in comparison to that whiny little girl.

NightMare also complained about being alone. How completely isolated she was and blah blah blah. But she made herself that way! She didn't want to get close to anyone and was rude to them all, acting like a cold high and mighty leader. She kept saying that everyone was afraid of her, or, of the "lightning girl" (UGHHH) but why?? She never did anything to them to warrant their fear and so the whole thing was unrealistic. It was just an excuse for Victoria to not have to write any civil interactions between nightMare and any other character. I don't really mind, all of nightMare's interactions were painful anyways.

I can't really say enough about how annoying nightMare was. She was the worst. Her inner dialogue didn't make me feel bad for her in the slightest. Because of her terrible character (such a contrast to who she was in Red Queen by the way!) I didn't care what happened to her. I've never cared less for a main character. Maven inwardly tortured nightMare? Oh well.
NightMare is sad and lonely? Oh well.
NightMare fell off a cliff? Oh well.
Don't. Care. She was the main thing that ruined this book for me.

2) The characters

Characters are supposed to come alive. Authors are supposed to breathe life into them, to make them leap off the page and into our hearts. Did Ms. (Mrs?) Aveyard do that? NOPE.
I knew something was missing, even from Red Queen and now I know it was the characters. It wasn't as noticeable in RQ but oh, was it noticeable here. They had no quirks. What kind of food do they like/dislike? What makes them tick? They had no goals that didn't revolve around nightMare and her little quest. All Aveyard did was give the characters one word personality characteristics:

Farley- bold. (Speaking of Farley, wow did she turn translucent in this book. I can't believe Aveyard took such a strong, fierce leader and turned her into essentially, a nobody. :/ NightMare over shadowed her with her awful attention-seeking self. Yuck.)
Kilorn-kind.
Cal- humble.
Cameron- fierce.
Shade- funny.
LIKE?
Honestly because of their lack of everything, I sadly didn't really care about anyone. When Shade died it was upsetting but nightMare didn't care so neither did I. The family didn't seem to care so neither did I. The author skipped over every character just to get to nightMare who was the worst of them all. It was awful how little attention all the other characters got. And the newbloods ? LOL. Who are they? I don't know. What are their goals besides being used my nightMare? I don't know. All we know are their abilities, and I forgot their names as soon as they were mentioned. It was sad. It IS sad.

3) The Villain- Maven.

When you have a villain in a book, you want the readers to hate them. You want them to gasp and curl their fist, shout "how dare you!" In my
opinion at least. Maven was the softest villain I've ever read. We were all TOLD about him and what he was doing, like once in a while the author remembered to mention him. Maven was completely behind the scenes which stinks because he's the reason nightMare is so broken and cold and alone and BOO HOO. The little notes he wrote were silly and childish. Even at the end when he captured nightMare (which I was not upset about by the way. Like I said, I don't care what happens to nightMare. I didn't care that she was humiliated in front of all the Silvers. Oh well, too bad for her. I'm glad Aveyard didn't do two pages of inner dialogue on what nightMare was feeling at the time and how alone and sad she was. Thanks!) I still didn't hate him. It was kind of like, "Oh, there you are Maven. Cool. Sorry about your mom by the way." (Side note, Queen Elara's death was not even written out. Are you kidding me? She gets whisked into the dust and fog and comes out electrocuted and burned and fried up. Aveyard writes painfully specific details about surroundings and places but not important scenes like the death of villain #2.) -__- Anyways, the villain wasn't a villain and that also weakened the book a whole lot.

4) Repetitiveness/Boring

We were literally told nightMare was the Lightning girl 4000000000 times, and told how sad and alone she was. This annoyed me to no end. Seriously, no end. Aveyard spent so much time focusing on nightMare's inner pity party that all the action scenes fell flat because after every little thing, we had to know how nightMare felt about it. Who. Cares. There was too much detail to the point where I skipped over half the descriptions. Yawn.

5) The romance

I understand why nightMare wants to keep Cal at a distance, after all that betrayal by Maven and whatever. But then she of course kisses him and sleeps in the same bed with him and so on, and then pushes him away for no reason like a spoiled brat. Just like Kilorn, nightMare treated Cal like crap. She even belittled him as well, literally saying "...he's not the sharpest sword in the armory." EXCUSE YOU. Who are you to talk?? No one.The fact that Cal overlooked her vile behavior and crawled back was also unrealistic. NightMare was so awful ( I can't stress that enough you guys) that it truly was unrealistic that anyone could tolerate her and would continue to socialize with her. Kiliorn and Cal did not deserve the treatment they received from nightMare, and she didn't deserve them, period. The romance was choppy mostly because nightMare treated Cal like a toy and only wanted him when it benefited her. Ugh. And I LIKE Cal. He is one of the only characters I like. NightMare doesn't deserve him at all. Mareena did, but nightMare does not.

Now, those are the main 5 things that just made me want to throw my kindle while reading this book. Of course nightMare tops it all, she was 95% of why this was so frustrating to read. Seriously she was the worst. Anyways, here are some examples and my reactions to them.

*NightMare repeatedly referring to herself as the "Lightning girl". Also thinking she is the best thing since sliced bread.

Example 1) "I am the little lightning girl---living electricity, a lighting bolt in human form....I am valuable, I am powerful..."

Me: Okay, yeah sure.

Example 2) "Kilorn is looking to someone else now... he's asking the lightning girl."

Me: Uh huh. Yup."

Example 3) "....like every wire and circuit since I became the lightning girl..."

Me: Oookay.

Example 4) ""The lighting girl" echoes from them..."

Me: Lol okay I get it.

Example 5) "Afraid of the lightning girl..."

Me: That's enough.

Example 6) "...but I am the lightning girl...."

Me: OKAY---

Example 7) "....I was the lightning girl..."

Me: I GET IT OKAY.

Those are 7 of MANY you guys. MANY. But I won't torture you anymore.

Now, some examples of nightMare's inner never-ending pity party.

Example 1) "...and yet, I've never wanted to cry more. For them, I hold back. I curl inward and bleed inside, alone, so no one can see..."

Me: Sorry? Why are you THIS upset again? Did you kill your own father under the power of your mother? No? Okay then lol.

Example 2) "...sets in, joining the cold still deep in my bones. Normally I would shiver---but I am getting used to his feeling. I suppose I should get used to being alone too..."

Me: And why? Oh yeah, because you push everyone away please be quiet now.

(you know what you guys, she had so many pity-party poor me boo hoo incredibly annoying moments that I just can't. Let's just say I was in a fetal position halfway through.)

This review has gone on along enough, and though I have so much more to say about the utter annoyance, frustration, and disappointment this book caused, I think I've made my point. I won't be reading book 3 or 4 because I doubt there can be a comeback after this. It's just a shame to see a series with good potential go to the pits. :/

P.S: But Cameron/ Thank goodness for Cameron. Thank you for telling nightMare OFF. Too bad your character faded away shortly afterwards.

I have to say it and I hate that I have to say it because this was one of my most anticipated titles of the year… but this book I think suffered greatly from second book syndrome.

If you’re reading this, you have to know that I absolutely loved Red Queen… it was exciting and suspenseful and full of fantastical elements that drew me in and had me so stupid excited to get my hands on book 2. I loved Mare… I loved Cal… I loved Kilorn and at times I even loved Maven.
We dive right into action with Mare and Cal trying to escape Maven with the help of the Scarlet Guard which was exciting and brought me right back into the heart of the story, but from there it was just a lot of ups and downs for me.

The pacing of this part of the story was incredibly slow, and I get that there was no way around it… we needed to find out about the other Reds with special skills, but it was just soooooo stinking sloooooow.

Unfortunately, I found myself skimming over passages of the middle of this book and then having to focus, go back and pay better attention.
I think my other issues were with Mare… she at times to me seemed to have lost the fire and spirit that I came to love in Red Queen. She was just kind of moving through the motions with no real passion for what she was doing and it was so frustrating! I expected more from her as a character and all the things I needed just were not there.

I have to mention the romance because there were a lot of different players in Red Queen, and while they are all still present there is no question as to she’s got the connection with but to be honest, it was soooooo bland and not at all exciting and I didn’t get any urges to get them to hook up. I unfortunately think that had a lot to do with my feelings about Mare.

I still love Cal. The Fire Prince absolutely needed more page time, though I am loving the arc of his character.

I am trying to do this spoiler free, so I won’t give you any specifics HOWEVER, I need to say this. There is one goal that these characters have through most of this book and when the god damn thing happens, it was so ANTI-CLIMACTIC I probably would have missed it.

And then Aveyard does it to you with that ending.

As I’m thinking about this story, I’m surprised to learn this is going to be 4 books. Will I be reading them? You bet I will, but I will definitely be hoping that the story pace picks up, I start to dislike Mare less, and we can get some damn kissing that means something. As it stands, you just may find me cheering for Maven!

In fact, I started skimming after page 200, I couldn't stand the wallowing. Aveyard writing style is one that I do enjoy, so no complaints there, just about what she did to the characters.

Zoro, The Moses of Drummers

I recently began "using" this book. One doesn't just read it. It is a history, study guide, practice guide, and motivator. Each of the major sections includes a discussion of the great artists, the terminology of the particular genre, a list of "must have" CDs, and actual transcriptions of specific grooves.
I'm looking forward to matching up the transcriptions to the grooves. When I'm handed a chart, I'll know what groove is expected. I already play some of the grooves, but this book shows the next logical step for growth; a slight variation or two. Also, in my case, I'm not up-to-date on the newer "Hip-Hop" and other grooves. Learning these will be major growth for me. I believe it's best suited to gigging drummers who want to expand their box o' chops. But things are laid out clearly enough for beginners.
If you want to get funkier and be ready to rock, I recommend this book. The list of CDs is worth the price.

5 Stars aren't near enough! How about 10!!!

Zoro, who is well respected in the drumming community, takes you through the evolution of R&B music with information about the drummers who laid down the groove, discographies of great albums, and lists of must-know tunes for the working drummer. The Chapters take you through the evolution of feels with lots of groove exercises and transcriptions of tunes typical of the feel/style.
Not only does Zoro teach you the grooves, but he presents great exercises for developing independence, especially to get those happy, stanky feet on the bass and hats. The progression of the lessons was so straightforward that I actually taught myself to read while studying this book.
The best part is that the Commandments of R&B Drumming is FUN. You will not find a more entertaining book anywhere on drumming. Zoro loves this music and it shows in his writing. Since I finished it, I still like to go back and breeze through the exercises just to dig on the grooves.

Buy this for the historical value alone.

I bought this book after seeing Zoro on the 2005 MD festival. What a groove. This is a great book for building a background of knowledge that is essential for any drummer looking to become a great groover. Get it and download every song or record mentioned in here; and listen. Zoro has dug up all the info on all the great players of R&B, motown, funk, soul, hip hop, etc. All great musicians are walking, talking encyclopedias of great recorded music and great players. This is the book for the drummer who understands he/she needs a history lesson as much as a drum lesson to find that magic pocket in their playing. The exercises outlined in the book are also quite valuable.

David Patrick Houghton is Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Central Florida. He is the author of three other books, including Political Psychology: Situations, Individuals, and Cases (2008) and U.S. Foreign Policy and the Iran Hostage Crisis (2001) and numerous articles published in internationally known journals.

Finally, a book assigned that I can enjoy

Absolutely love this book. It is one of the easiest reads I've ever had in college and it keeps me continuously interested. It is definitely not stuffed with annoying, pretentious phrases or words that would make me feel inferior to these great political leaders... Instead, Houghton includes comical situations and actual quotes that help the reader relate to the most difficult decisions that have been made in the White House. You will be able to understand why the U.S. went into Vietnam, why we invaded Iraq and why the heck did we got involved in Kosovo. Maybe you'll even come to love the key players that have made decisions you would never agree with. You will definitely want to have a drink with Madeline Albright, that's for certain.

I am currently finishing up Houghton's class that is based around this book and although I'll barely come out with a "B" caused by a major case of senioritus, I have loved every bit of information and knowledge I have gained. I'm keeping the book, you can't have it. I'll probably read it again over the summer.

About the Author

Pamela C. Corley is currently Associate Professor and Director of the Law and Legal Reasoning Minor in the Political Science Department at Southern Methodist University, where she teaches classes on judicial process, civil rights, First Amendment, criminal procedure, and jurisprudence. She received her J.D. and Ph.D. from Georgia State University.

Artemus Ward is currently Professor of Political Science at Northern Illinois University, where he teaches classes in public law and American politics. He received his Ph.D. from the Maxwell School Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University and was formerly a staffer on the U.S. House Judiciary Committee.

Wendy L. Martinek is currently Associate Professor of Political Science at Binghampton University (SUNY), where she teaches classes in constitutional law, judicial politics, and political methodology. She received her M.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and her Ph.D. from Michigan State University, and was formerly a program officer for the Law and Social Sciences Program of the National Science Foundation.

I won an ARC of Full Circle directly from the author. First let me say I've been hooked on this series since the beginning. That being said Full Circle was my favorite. I loved being able to see how Hannah and Garrett grew as a couple once they were together full time. It was also great being able to see how they dealt with less than ideal situations (wasn't just a oh everything is perfect now story line). I read this book in one night then went back and reread the entire series together. Would highly recommend this book and the entire series! Can't wait to see Jared grovel this fall!

Author Laramie Briscoe wraps up the Rockin’ Country saga of Reaper (Garrett) and Harmony (Hannah) in Full Circle. We’ve seen these two characters meet, have a whirlwind courtship, fall in love, marry, and what comes after marriage? Yes, life is really changing for these two and with is comes fears, tears, and a whole lot of love.

I have really loved watching these two not only grow up as individuals but watching their relationship mature as these books have gone along. It hasn’t been easy, their careers and their pasts put them in the public eye and as much as they try to control the media machine sometimes they just can’t. I do love that their communication skills have gotten better as time has gone on, that the love between them has grown, and their trust in each other is absolute.

Touring is always interesting for a band and when Hannah accompanies Black Friday on their tour while taking time off from her own career she gets to know Garrett’s band mates a whole lot better. I love how she made time to do things with each of them and how they were there to protect her and keep her safe along with Garrett. I love how accepting they were of her into their group and how she made sure to include them especially in a decision that would affect them all.

We were treated to glimpses of the struggle Shel has in her relationship with Jared and a teeny bit into Stacey’s (Garrett’s sister) relationship with his band mate Brad and thankfully we’ll see more in books to come. There were a few harrowing moments in this book; both took their toll on Garrett and Hannah but might also impact the future of the band.

I really enjoyed the intimate scenes between Garrett and Hannah as it shows how comfortable they’ve become with one another, how much they trust each other and more than that that their love is stronger than ever.

While this is the “last chapter” in Garrett and Hannah’s story, I’m sure we’ll see snippets of them in the books to come and that makes me happy as I can’t wait to see how they deal with recording, touring, and their new bundle of joy!

Rocking and rolling with a new life...romantic and sweet

I was lucky enough to receive a free copy of this book before release day to review.
This entry in the Harmony/Reaper saga starts with a bonus prologue that takes place as they spend their first Christmas together as a married couple. It was sweet and as they exchanged their gifts, it gave us just more of a glimpse into their rock/country marriage and just how devoted they really are to each other.
This book is primarily about their desire to start a family and being on the road together, learning more and more about how each other "works" and cementing their relationship before they take the plunge at parenthood. Also along for this ride we get more about Shell and Jared and their rocky road to happiness which will be severely tested as Jared flip flops from being in love with Shell to letting outside forces put a huge wedge between them and making for a dangerous outcome.
The road to being a family won't be easy for Harmony either, as she deals with some heavy health issues that cause the press to go crazy and wonder if she has relapsed. It is a touch and go situation for these two young lovers as real life gets in the way of the fantasy of being on tour and starting a family at the same time, but you just know if anyone can overcome the obstacles..it is these two.
This was a very different series for Laramie Briscoe and nothing like her biker books (which I am a huge fan of) although she does try to add more spice into Harmony and Reaper's sex life by introducing some new "play" that they have not done before but that might be more fitting for the rockstar lifestyle that Reaper is used to. It was romantic and tender enough to appeal to readers of "light" romance novels but with a little bit of an edge to appeal to those who like a grittier story.
Coming up next will be Shell and Jared's book because their story ends with a bit of a shock and is left hanging. Stay tuned!
