Harrington Emerson's "Twelve Priciples of Efficiency"

A classic that precedes Deming and everyone else on the inefficiencies of American-style manufacturing. If you are hip to Japanese manufacturing (TPS, TQS, TQM, etc.), Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and all the other "silver bullets" being offered up to cure manufacturing ills, read this book and you will quickly understand that little has changed in the last hundred years or so on how it should be done. Very interesting, indeed.
